My 13 yo son and his football team went to see Plymouth Argyle's last match of the season today, complete with dads. It was a great day, Argyle had an unexpectedly large win (5-0) and the Hartlepool supporters turned up dressed as Star Wars stormtroopers. Had a chat and laugh with some of them outside the ground afterwards and it was a great afternoon.
Got me thinking - when I was not much older than my son in the 80s there was always the fear of trouble and supporters were desperately kept apart at football. At the end of the 88-89 season I went to a Bristol City / Sheffield U fight where a football match briefly broke out.
I don't see much live league footy these days so a question for you regulars - have things got a lot better at grounds now? Is the violence confined to firms who take it out to arranged meets away from the match? I'd love to think today's example is how it is these days - is it?

I went to the Cardiff Birmingham match today and was trouble free as it has been for a long time now. The away fans have to walk through all the home fans to get back to the coaches and never see any issues. Come along way from the old Ninian park days where away fans were locked in for an hour after the match finished
