December 27, 2015

Even though I'm not directly affected by Brexit it does have have far reaching implications. A lot of my UK suppliers have put up their prices due to the exchange rate. If red tape becomes a problem with imports I'll have to source from Germany, France etc to avoid the hassle.
Last month I went to the North of Ireland for a relatives birthday. Soon I might have to bring my passport on such trips.
I'm only looking from the outside. I'm not into politics but this topic does intrigue me.

If we're talking lies then we should maybe recall Project Fear.
I waited my whole adult life for that referendum that I thought they'd never give us.
I've never been so happy to Leave something. Counting the days.

League 3
Scrutlington Town (1271)
I voted to leave along with the other 51% of voters. I have my reasons why but what I do not understand is, why the government is stalling with the move out of Europe.
They gave us a referendum, we used it to vote out, yet they are content to amber along seemingly waiting for another referendum as they did not expect us to vote out.
What British people need to ask is, you voted in/out, well done BUT would the result have been different if the 13,000,000 people that didn't vote got off their arses and actually vote.
The arguments aren't with the people that voted, it is with the people that didn't vote and are now the same people crying over the out vote.

Do you think people understood what they were voting for? It's not like a General Election where you can change your mind in 5 years time.
Do you think plastering the 350 million a week to the NHS on a bus for the Leave campaign was fair?
Do you think Osborne predicting the world would end if we voted leave was fair?
I was horrified today to hear that someone from some reality show.. I dunno which... the Geordie one I think... voted for Brexit because "it sounded like a biscuit and I like biscuits".
Or that the most searched term on Google from the UK for a few days AFTER the vote was 'what is the European Union'.

I have noticed that since the referendum in June of last year there have been no high external bids from European teams for any of my players. Coincidence!?

1. No they didn't. Everyone was told lies from both sides. If not lies, then exaggerations. Everything said from the in or out parties were generalisations, not anything concrete or specific examples. So with that in mind and the fact that people are easily lead, that is why the vote was so close.
It's a bit like the weather forecast. Today it will be sunny with highs of 25c. Where? Specific location?
2. It was and it wasn't. It was fair as an example but it wasn't fair to single out something that is high on peoples agenda, especially when it covers your health. that was a bribe to the outs.
What should have happened from the outs was to show how much money we give to other countries before we sort our own country out.
3. We will become a solvent nation that everyone will look up to. The world will end quote reflects that the rest of the world depend on our contributions to help them out, without these, the countries will be even more in debt.
It's a bit like the UK being a credit card to the world. All the time it's there, they use it. Take it away and, shit, how are we going to afford our way of life without the UK. Easy answer which is the same to everyone......adapt and live in your own means.

An unusual topic for this forum, but one of the few places where I see it discussed without personal insults. Congratulations all round!
I voted in. I think there were clear disadvantages to businesses to staying in and clear disadvantages to others to leaving in roughly equal proportions, but I felt that the legislation from Europe was largely positive and I believe in cooperation.
Both campaigns were a disgrace, I think the lies and appeals to angry reactions were awful, and that while both did it, the lies of the leave campaign were of a premier league standard. I agree that most votes were cast be people without much clue what they were doing, arguably mine too.
Looking forward I think it will be unclear how it will unfold, and it could take ten years before some issues are clear and then we'll probably still be divided 51/49 over whether it was a good idea.
