I sent League 3 out today with a promise that the turnfee will remain the same for the next season
Then I discover that the privatised 'Royal' Mail are not satisfied with the profits they are already creaming off and have put the stamp price up by another 15p yet again to £1.25. It' s the third rise in 18 months and seems to be normal now, two 15p rises each year and the price of a stamp has virtually doubled inside 3 years.
Sorry but I really can't absorb these sort of ridiculous increases and make it worthwhile for me to carry on working on the game so I will have to pass most of this and other postal increases on to postal managers.
For League 3 I will keep it as it is for next season as I have committed to do so already.
For Leagues 1 and 2 there will not be a change until next season. Then I propose to keep the turnfee for managers on the email list unchanged. For those that prefer postal turns I will need to pass the latest 15p increase on and will absorb the earlier 15p increase which I had already prepared to do.
So the turnfee for email turns will remain at £3.50 and postal turns will be £3.65 and in future any increase in first class stamp prices will be passed on in full to postal turns whilst I will aim to keep the turn price for emailed turns the same for at least 3 years.
Summit is a postal game and I have done all I can to avoid a two tier system between email and postal but with stamp prices going up at such an above inflation rate it seems unfair for managers to get their turns emailed to subsidise these price rises.
There are 2 or 3 turns to go before League 1 gets to the end of season and nothing is written in stone so if you all have comments or suggestions do let me know

When I worked for the post office if they wanted to increase stamp prices by 1 pence they had to literally beg the government, now they just shove 15p on which is a disgrace

I listen to the Martin Lewis podcast and he was saying you can buy in bulk the stamps at the price they currently are before they have increased so that's possibly something you could do in the future or just turn it into a email only game.

Yes I bought 700 stamps back in April when the last 15p rise came in. I simply didn't know about the Oct 2nd further 15p rise.
The fact is no matter how many stamps I buy it just puts off paying the price increase unless I could buy a million stamps.
I think the main point of this thread is that I am considering keeping the turnfee for emailed turns the same but increasing the fee for postal turns by the amount of the last stamp price increase. I know it's only 15p but it then sets a precedent for me that then everybody knows that if they are on postal turns then the turnfee will go up along with stamp prices and I don't have to apologise for that every time.
That's really the point... it isn't about 15p this time around it's about what is happening in the next few years. Think about it... you pay £3.50, I am forking out £1.25 of that just for a stamp to post the turn never mind all the other costs and I would like to get paid even a little for my time. Besides, the moat around my mansion needs cleaning and gardeners don't come cheap

I was a postman in the 80s
it was a great service then with a second delivery, we used to do our first delivery and bring all the post in from various boxes around Crawley, we’d normally bring 80 from the red box each, we’d sort them into inward or outward sorting,anything inward would go straight into local sorting for the “second delivery”
it was around 15p to send 1st class, if you posted local it was virtually guaranteed it would get there 2nd delivery, those were good days and we had a next day delivery of around 93% nationally
The Queen was against the sell off of the post office as she said prices would rise and the service would fail,the Queen was a marvellous intelligent lady, she was correct
I can’t see Royal Mail being around in 5/10 years time
my dad worked for the post office for 40 years, he is quite heartbroken by it all

I totally agree with garyc. Now they are are talking about cutting out Saturday deliveries to save costs like anyone actually gets a delivery every day anyway regardless of it being a Saturday. Now I gather it's been sold on to a Czech billionare who obviously doesnt give a shit about 1st class letters being delivered the next day in this country. This is an industry that should be going back to public ownership.
Once the game restarts you know I am going to have to add 30p to the turnfees for postal turns. Emailed turns will be unaffected as far as turnfee goes.
