I don't think there are any really unless you want to experiment with formation etc.

Silversprings Utd (1217) League 3. Season 1 - Trophy Winners.
Season 2 - Premier & Cup Winners.
Season 3 - Trophy Winners.
Season 4 - Cup Winners
Cork City (1268) League 3
Tivoli Boro (1231) League 3
Vale Park Rangers (1270) League 3

Also it gives you chance to give players that don’t get in your squad a run out. This can help keep them happy. I think!!!!!

League 1
Dewsbury F.C.(516)
Heaton Harriers (540)
League 2
F.C. Perfecto (609)
Northern Scum F.C. (630)
League 3
AFC Chaos (1279)

I think the odd rating can go up by a small amount with a win

I don't think the players benefit in terms of ratings and the matches don't count towards end of season totals for boosts. You can get injuries and lose fitness.

The main benefit is trying out different tactics and a bit of fun for the managers. It might also be the only way you can play a particular manager in the same league unless you get lucky in the cup.

You may be correct I do think it's very small but i've lost and won a friendly and a rating went up that's the basis of my opinion,
