I thought I would give you an update on the Game Suspended status that you are seeing on the traffic light page.
In the past I was reluctant to post details about the 'family illness' that has disrupted the game frequently because I didn't want to post personal details on the internet since they stay there forever. However I have to accept now that the person concerned is never going to read this.
My eldest daughter was diagnosed with cervical cancer back in 2020. In October 2022 she appeared to be clear of it after chemotherapy, had gone back to work, enrolled in a online University course and said that life had never been better.
However the cancer came back and despite intensive radiotherapy and more chemo it spread to her pelvis and kidneys and probably elsewhere but she is too ill to be moved to a hospital for further scans. She has been cared for in a hospice for the past few weeks and is receiving the best care I could imagine but we were told at the start of the week that it was a matter of days. That is why I suspended the game. She is still with us as I write this but not very responsive.
What does all this mean for Summit? Well as you can imagine it isn't a high priority at the moment. I may get the odd League out now and again despite the 'game suspended' status because I can't be at the hospice 24/7 and working on Summit will maybe help take my mind off the more important issues. I will update the traffic lights with a green light when a stage is done.
In the meantime I would just like to thank you all for your patience, not just now but in the past when I have had to delay the game due to this unexplained 'family illness' which was usually unexpectedly spending an entire day or night or both in A&E at Derby or Stoke or Burton hospitals or waiting in Derby for chemo sessions to finish.
Thanks.... Steve

Hi steve
I feel so sad for you, obviously I went through this with Sarah last year, she didn’t get the chance of chemo as she was too unwell, five weeks after diagnosis she passed away.
I remember how kind you were at the time and getting summit emails at the time took my mind off of the ongoing strain of nursing sarah at home.
It’s probably a different dynamic when it’s your daughter although the pain is still intense, I don’t know what I’d do without my daughters, my sons are slightly different to my daughters
I hope your daughter doesn’t suffer, it’s a bloody horrible illness( cancer)
I’ve just done a charity run for cancer research and raised a bit of money( £250), every little helps but people are still seriously ill from this awful disease
This time last year sarah and I were planning stuff, then it’s all gone
I hope that things get better, it must be so hard for you and your family, sometimes things that distract you help
Thinking of you at this tough time❤️

As much as we all may love the game Steve, we all realise that there’s a life away from Summit and spending what time you have left with your daughter is infinitely more important than this.
So take all the time you need, cherish what time you have left and I hope both you and your family find the strength needed to cope the best you can with things.
Don’t worry about us, we’ll be here when you’re ready to return.

Thanks for the update Steve, that's terrible news, I'm very sorry for what you and your family is going through. I appreciate that there's nothing anyone can say to make this situation better although I wish you well for such a devastating situation. Needless to say, SSL should not be considered a priority at this time.

Hi Steve,
I’m new to the game. Although, I was greatly anticipating my next turn to arrive in the post, my thoughts go out to you and your family. Family is the most important thing in life and after all, this is just a game and while we wait we will all have you in our prayers.

Hi Steve,
I cannot express how sorry I am to read your news. I would not normally say this on an open forum, but 22 years ago this month I "lost" my son when he was 26 years. So, I have some idea of what you are going through and it is something that you can never express adequately. My heart goes out to you and your family and Summit is of no significance. I for one fully accept the delays no matter how long and frequent.
Very best wishes,
John T.
So sorry to hear/read this. Dread to think how I would feel if any of mine were in this situation.
Take as long as you need. Family is the most important thing in the world, the rest can wait.
