blimey,I'm 50 soon and I've been in summit since June 1996 so I'm entering my 20 th year with out a break,it was £2.25 per turn then,no web pages really to look at as I had no computer,I started off with " the Welsh wizards in summitm9. At one point I had 11teams
I had 1 in lg4,1 in 5,1 in 6,1 in 7,2 in 9,1in 10,1 in 11,1 in 12, 1 in 13 and 1'in 14
I sued to get some sent into work so my wife didn't find out how many teams I had,I'm sure I had more, when some of the leagues merged it was quite a relief to be honest
I reckon I must have spent a fair few grand lol
It's been a hoot

If we didn't play summit for all these years and used the money some other way, we probably could have bought a house together now!

Well I can assure you I haven't bought a mansion with your money heh noway

Did you know that if Summit turnfees had kept up with inflation then I would have to be charging £3.70 a turn? Source: THIS SITE

So it's more a labour of love than buying a mansion crying

Steve,I've enjoyed summit,I only got into summit through my father in law Mike who had deer park rangers in lg 9
His son was in summit
I was in Plymouth in June 96 and I was reading his turn and thought il have a go at that,I went down to the call box at the shops and phoned your number, you answered which was a suprise and then sent me a team in lg9
The rest is history as they say,but it's been a good journey and one I've enjoyed over the years
So I say thank you for the last 20 years

"went down to the call box at the shops" made me smile. Yes it really was like being on another planet back then compared to now.

I was trying to explain to one of my daughters the other day about Summit, who still doesn't know what it's about. I said there are people who joined Summit when they were teenagers who are now married with kids. She still doesn't get it.

Didn't have mobiles in 96 like we have today,my mate had a mobile in his ford Capri,he thought he was the bees knees, these in car phones from the 90s are worth a fortune now, hardly anyone had a mobile, there were call boxes everywhere!

I also used a payphone that was towards the end of my paper round to call Steve (I still remember the phone number!) and ask if a particular league had been sent out on that day. A lot of my paper round income would be spent on summit teams, even at £2 a turn. I would send in around 8 first class stamps to cover the turn fee.

Is it that she doesn't understand that anyone would want to marry a complete nerd who plays a pretend football game? I get that reaction sometimes.

It's been really good fun playing this over the years, ups and downs and the slow development of some awful clubs into real forces in the league. I expect most of us will keep going for another 20 years.
