Well yes I'm sure the non league community will wish them luck... all of it bad.

I have mixed feelings about non league clubs being the play-toys of rich benefactors. On the one hand there is the likes of Forest Green Rovers, no fans to speak of and completely unsustainable at a top level yet you have owner Dale Vince prepared to throw millions at it. Somehow that felt just wrong. I know for a fact although it was not disclosed at the time that he hired manager Mark Cooper on £150k a year + house + car + expenses and that as a National League club!

On the other hand you have Andy Pilley at Fleetwood. Took them from nothing by really doing the same thing. I had the pleasure of meeting Andy back in 2007/8 season when they were in the Northern Premier League on the way up and he just insisted on showing everyone around the ground and what he was going to build here and what he was going to improve there. I've never met a guy more passionate about football and about his club before or since.

So, it's not black and white. Hopefully Salford get their promotion so we can get them out of non league but yes I get why 99% of us want them to go tits up.

Yes Salford
They are coming down to the mighty worthing to play a friendly, obviously they haven't many friends up there

Down here we have the mighty Billericay

Billericay were a steady isthmian league prem club until they got taken over by this dodgy guy call glen, a proper wanker in every sense of the word
Most clubs budget around 3-5 grand a week
Billy big balls glen thought 30,000 quid a week would be ok
Jamie Ohara, jermain pennant and quite a few ex pros joined the ranks
It was obvious watching them that they weren't a team, they had all the best players though and eventually won the Bostic Prem just, they had to play 17 games in 22 days due to their ground being refurbished,re laid and every match in the winter was postponed
Did we piss ourself laughing when they came down to worthing and we beat them 2-1
The shit really hit the fan after that game, they were useless for a team of overpaid players
They're now conf South this season, they've dumped most of their players from last season for better ones
Sometimes failure is sweet when you try and buy your way to the league

Non league football is all about making the most of limited resources and a wealthy backer is going to change everything. Just like the higher levels.

Maybe this is old news but when I watched Farnborough Town around 2000-3 they had a great run and built a strong team, good FA Cup run (played Arsenal) and the manager got a lot of support for it. We later found out there was extra money because he wasn't paying the tax bill. After he left there was an enormous one and the cub faced possible closure.

Regulating the money would be great, I'd love to see the leagues running SSL style with them all facing similar challenges but can't see it would work.
